$$ counting the cost $$

If you have never investigated adoption, you may not realize that it is very, very expensive.  Whether you choose to pursue private domestic adoption or international adoption, the cost is easily $20,000 for one child.  There are many components to that price including home study fees for a social worker to assess your competency as a parent and the safety of your home, state level background checks and approvals, and federal level background checks and approvals.  There are attorney fees, agency fees, and then just the straight up "cost" of the child (I can't believe that is an actual thing, but it is what it is). For international adoption, we also have to add in travel costs.

Since we have committed to adopting siblings, that brings our potential cost to a total of $40,000.  This seems like a mountain of money, but at the same time, can you really put a price on the life of a child?  I will not get into detail here about the horrifying statistics facing orphan girls in India, but you don't have to look far to realize that these girls have no future if they are not adopted.   Is seeing an orphan placed into a loving forever family more valuable than a new car?  I think it is.

Aaron and I have invested $21,000 of our own money into this adoption process so far.  The majority of this amount came from the inheritance I received when my dad passed away.  That leaves us with about $19,000 left to pay.  That is why we are fundraising.  To be honest, it is like trying to dig a well with a teaspoon, but we are committed to seeing Autumn and Abby home where they can be loved and cared for forever.  The world will have 2 less orphans, even if it means I have to stand in front of Walmart and beg!

So please consider participating in one of our fundraisers.  We are pulling out all the stops and trying to be as creative as possible to make giving fun and rewarding, but we can't do this without you.   Will you partner with us in saving 2 precious little lives?
